If a patient has any type of contraception, this icon will be displayed in the patient demographics box. This patient status alert will show if the patient has been issued a CHC or POP in the last year or if they have an implant, Cu-IUD or LNG-IUD in situ. Clicking this icon will launch the appropriate contraceptive template and default to the 'review' page for convenience.
If the icon is not displayed, you can locate this template and all other contraceptive templates by navigating to:
Auto-consultation > ardens WOMENS HEALTH
The tick boxes are a quick way to document and code a thorough review without the need of typing free text. The template also provides links to other templates such as Contraception, Cervical Smear and UK MEC, which follows the latest UK MEC guidance.
The 'view' located at the footer of the template provides a list of current medication, past contraceptives and any medication monitoring overdue. This view can be used to re-issue, reauthorise or stop a medication by right-clicking on the relevant drug.
There are formulary pages if issuing for the first time or providing an alternative. These include C-OCP, Patch and Ring. Click on the appropriate drug to prescribe. If some options are 'greyed out' as shown below, these drugs are not part of your local formulary. These can be 'overridden' by ticking the box at the footer of the page.
Pill checks (reviews) are usually conducted 12-monthly. There are reports identifying patients who have been issued the CHC or POP and haven’t had a review / pill check in the last 1 year.
To locate these reports, navigate to:
Clinical Reporting > Ardens > Prescribing | Alerts > Women's Health > On CHC | ?For pill check as none in last 1y + started >1y ago
or On progesterone | ?For pill check as none in last 1 y + started POP >1y ago
