The Nice Sepsis Risk Stratification has been created in line with NICE Guidelines. Depending on the age of the child, a specific version will open automatically so that you are working off the ranges appropriate to the age of the child.  You can access this from the Paediatric Consultation Template by clicking the 'Child Examination' button or auto-consultation > ardens SCORES or attach it to the F12 launcher.   The example below is for children 12 years or older.

Appropriate ranges - these ranges have been set in line with NICE guidance to help you see easily if the patient is normal, moderate or high risk.  Just type the appropriate value into the box, press enter and the level of risk will be highlighted.

Low Risk, Moderate Risk, High Risk check-boxes allow you to record specifically what sort of symptoms and signs the patient has.  This means that at a later date, if needs be, the record can be checked to show you recorded specifically 'absence of rash' or 'normal behaviour' if the patient's condition has worsened.

NEWS2 -  National Early Warning Score 2.  This is a scored assessment that will total up the score as you use the drop-down menus to select the appropriate response

There is a key below the scored assessment to explain the results.

SIRS & Sepsis tab - this is another tool for sepsis screening.  You can add values, compare them to the red flags, calculate the risk score, and record impression.

Don't forget to ok the template and save the record when finished.
